Brew Methods - Kalita Wave
The Kalita has become a favorite home brewing method of ours at home for a single cup option. We have found that this method has provided us with a more balanced, fuller bodied brew than other styles of Pour over methods.
What you’ll need:
25g coffee finely ground to the coarseness of sea salt
375g water
Kettle
Scale
Paddle
Kalita
Brewer Something to brew into
Brew Method: Wet coffee filter, dispose of rinse water and add ground coffee
Place assembly on the scale and zero it out
Add 50g of water to bloom coffee and start timer
Agitate the coffee bed to make sure all of the coffee has been saturated in water
Allow your coffee to bloom for 30 seconds
Every 30 seconds add 50g of water to keep the bed of coffee saturated and controlling the flow of coffee extraction
Stop adding water when you achieve 375g
Allow coffee slurry to drain completely
Discard the spent coffee
Swirl the coffee brew to homogenize, and enjoy your beautiful cup of coffee
